Midlink Business Park Project – VK Civil
Midlink Business Park is one of the biggest redevelopment success stories in Michigan’s history. In 1999 General Motors closed their 40 acre stamping plant building that sat on 340 acres in Comstock Township, Michigan (just east of Kalamazoo). Hackman Capital Partners bought the buildings and land and have been successfully redeveloping the property since. In 2003 Comstock Township received a CDBG grant to provide public roads and utilities throughout the 340 acres making redevelopment feasible. Also, in 2003 Hackman Capital Partners made the wise decision to remove 2 acres of building from the center of this 40 acre building to create two buildings with access on all sides including a truck only courtyard in between the two buildings. Dan Lewis has been the project manager for the site since 2001 and has assisted with all redevelopment of roadways and infrastructure outside of the existing buildings and the development of all new buildings. There are now many new buildings in the park including a Candlewood Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Maggies Catering, General Mills, Seneca Medical Supply, Hark Orchids, Purity Gas, and Zeigler Motor Sports.
