AIA Northern Indiana Golf Outing
VK Civil was a platinum sponsor of the 2023 AIA (American Institute of Architects) Northern Indiana Golf Outing in South Bend Indiana. The weather was perfect for an afternoon of camaraderie and friendly competition on the golf course. Fun Under the Sun: Caledonia’s Community Green Park Welcomes Splash Pad
June 2 was the grand opening of the splash pad at Caledonia’s Community Green Park. Bringing the community together in celebration, marking the beginning of a summer filled with laughter and cherished moments for all who visit. VK Civil was delighted to partner with EV Construction to add the splash pad to the park’s array of recreational offerings. Two New Additions to the VK Civil Private Development Team
I (Dan) was tempted to make the title “VK Civil Grows in Height and Capacity”. We recently added two new team members to our private development team. They happen to be the tallest members in the private development team picture below. Collin Wilson joins us as an EIT (Engineer in Training) with 3 years of experience in private development design. VK Civil Partners with Replanted
In 2022 there were 10,500 kids served in Michigan's foster care service, and only 5000 licensed foster homes. Roughly 50% of the children who enter foster care are able to go back to their biological families, while the other half need adoptive placements. Local adoptive and foster parents need support as they struggle to meet the complex needs created by the grief, loss, and trauma experienced by the children in their care. Lack of support leads to family distress and disrupted placements, ultimately hurting both families and children. Niles High School Sports & Competition Field Ribbon Cutting
VK Civil recently had the privilege of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Viking Stadium at Niles High School. VK was hired by CARMI Design Group to assist with the civil engineering design of a new track and artificial turf football field. The project turned out great and the first sporting event happened on the field right after the celebration. Congrats to Niles on your new track and field!

VK Civil Christmas in October
Yes, you read the headline correctly. Our team Christmas party was in October!! Spouses and family members joined our team for an evening of paint pouring and tacos. Some of the engineers fixated on how to exactly mix paint and water to get the ideal pouring consistency, while everyone experimented with color combinations and techniques. VK Civil seeks to plan ahead and be prepared through weekly leadership meetings, quarterly planning meetings, and constant communication. Dan Lewis had the pleasure of presenting “Civil Engineering Site Selection Considerations” to the American Institute of Architect’s Southwest Michigan Branch recently. Custer hosted the presentation from their beautiful offices on the 15th Floor of the Exchange Building in downtown Kalamazoo. The views were awesome!
